WAEC to Launch Computer-Based Exams for Private Candidates on October 25

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that it will begin its Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CBWASSCE) for private candidates on October 25, 2024.

The examination will continue until December 20, 2024, according to a statement released by WAEC on Tuesday.

The new CBWASSCE will adopt a hybrid format. According to WAEC spokesperson Adesina Fadekemi, objective or multiple-choice questions will be completed directly on-screen, while essay and practical questions will also appear on-screen but require answers to be written in provided booklets.

For candidates who prefer traditional methods, WAEC will also offer a Paper and Pen mode option for the entire examination.

The Council has extended the registration deadline for the exams to Tuesday, October 29, 2024, providing an additional opportunity for interested candidates.

Additionally, WAEC will offer a 'Walk-in-Candidate' option, allowing candidates to register 24 hours before a specific paper is scheduled.
