Fire Outbreak on Lagos Blue Line Track, Prompt Response Prevents Casualties

A section of the Lagos Blue Line track near the NEPA Station close to the Eko Bridge in the Apogbon area of Lagos State was engulfed in flames on Saturday afternoon.

The fire broke out at around 4:12 p.m. and was promptly reported by Gboyega Akosile, spokesperson for the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, via a post on his X handle.

According to Akosile, there were no casualties, as train services were not operating on the line at the time of the incident.

A swift response by safety and emergency personnel, along with other first responders, ensured the fire was fully extinguished, securing the area for nearby residents and commuters.

“Lagosians in that area can go about their business peacefully as the situation is under control,” Akosile reassured residents, adding that further updates about the Lagos Blue Line operations would be provided by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (@Lamataonline).

While the cause of the fire remains unknown, authorities are expected to conduct a full assessment and provide more details soon.

For now, officials assure Lagosians that the situation is contained, and efforts are underway to restore normal operations on the track.
