The Lagos State Council of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, has been thrown into mourning following the death of its Organising Secretary, Toba Ajiboye, popularly known as Ijaya.
Ajiboye was reportedly shot dead by yet-to-be-identified gunmen on Sunday night while returning home from his childhood neighbourhood in Fadeyi, Lagos.
Sources said the assailants intercepted his vehicle along the Ikorodu Road axis and opened fire at close range, leaving his car riddled with bullets.
His gruesome murder comes just months after popular Nigerian cleric, Primate Elijah Ayodele, warned of impending crisis and death in the NURTW.
In his 2025/2026 prophecy book released in December 2024 during the unveiling of his annual prophecies, the Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church had foretold that the union would lose a prominent member.
On Page 93 of the prophecy book, Primate Ayodele stated: “I foresee that the NURTW will be enmeshed in crisis as the Union will face various court cases and be embroiled in litigation.
“The members of the Union must pray against the death of a prominent member, as I foresee they will face a lot of troubles.”
The killing of Ijaya, a well-known and influential figure in the Lagos NURTW, has now fulfilled that prophecy, sparking reactions among members and followers of the cleric.
Primate Ayodele is known for his numerous fulfilled prophecies on politics, security, and notable personalities both within Nigeria and globally.
