Alleged PFIPC Scam: Court Issues Warrant for Adeyemi Over Forgery, ₦400m Fraud Claims

A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a warrant for the arrest of Adeniyi Adeyemi, who parades himself as Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), after he failed to appear for arraignment on forgery, fraud, and impersonation charges.

Adeyemi was slated to take his plea before Justice Mohammed Umar on Tuesday in the case marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, which contains an eight-count charge. He was absent when the matter was called, prompting the court to issue the arrest warrant.

The charges were filed on November 27, 2025, by police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki. Two other defendants are also named in the case.

According to media reports, the prosecution has the intention of calling several high-profile witnesses during the trial.

They include Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Paul Emmanuel; Jeremiah Imoukhede; Ituah Sylvester; officials from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Akimbo Shola and Adamu Balongu; and a Deputy Superintendent of Police.

The court’s order came just a day after Adeyemi denied reports that he was in hiding to evade security agencies.

According to him, “I’m ready to show my face. I’m not hiding. I’m only fearing for my life because I have it on good authority that my life is in danger. There have been several attempts on my life,” Adeyemi said.

Adeyemi also doubled down on claims that he paid ₦400 million through an intermediary to secure his appointment as DG of the disputed council.

He said lenders of the funds had petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over the payment.

Police say the investigation into the alleged PFIPC scandal began after the Office of the Chief of Staff petitioned the Inspector-General of Police on October 17, 2025. The petition flagged forged appointment letters allegedly circulated in the name of the office.
