The Federal High Court in Lagos has fixed June 9, 2026, for the arraignment of Nollywood actress, Doris Ogala, 34, over allegations of cyberstalking and bullying Pastor Chris Okafor.
Justice Akintayo Aluko set the new date after Ogala failed to appear in court to take her plea on a four-count charge filed by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, DPPF, under charge number FHC/L/220c/2026.
The charges, brought under the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Amendment Act, 2024, accuse Ogala of publishing nude and intimate photographs of Pastor Okafor without his consent between September 2024 and March 2026.
She is also alleged to have circulated false and inciting claims through Instagram and other platforms, including allegations of rape, ritual practices, and complicity in a death.
Other counts include cyberbullying, harassment, and attempted extortion. The DPPF alleged that Ogala threatened to continue publishing damaging materials unless Pastor Okafor “compensates you or buys you a house.”
During the proceedings, prosecution counsel, Mokuola, applied for a bench warrant to compel Ogala’s appearance, arguing that she was duly served but absent.
However, the defence lawyer, Temiloluwa Akindayini, opposed the application, stating that Ogala underwent surgery on April 21, 2026, and is currently recuperating in Abia State.
He said an affidavit detailing her medical condition was filed on April 22.
The prosecution faulted the defence for not serving the affidavit and noted that the medical report was not from a government hospital, making its authenticity unverifiable.
Ruling on the submissions, Justice Aluko declined to issue a bench warrant but stressed that the defence should have notified the prosecution and served all processes. In the interest of justice, the judge gave Ogala the benefit of the doubt.
The court, however, directed the actress to produce a “comprehensive and verifiable medical report from a government hospital” and ensure it is served on the prosecution before the next date.
“The defendant must present a verifiable report from a government hospital and serve the same on the prosecution before the next date.
“She must also be present in court for her arraignment,” Justice Aluko ruled.
The case was adjourned to June 9, 2026, for arraignment.
If convicted, Ogala faces penalties under Sections 24(1)(a), 24(1)(b), 24(2)(A), and 24(2)(c) of the Cybercrimes Amendment Act, 2024.
