Clearing Agent Arraigned in Lagos Over Attempted Cocaine Export to UK

A Federal High Court in Lagos has arraigned Agoro Tajudeen Moninuola, a clearing agent, for allegedly attempting to export 2.80 kilograms of cocaine to the United Kingdom through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) told the court that the defendant conspired with Azeez Nurudeen and Nuru, both currently at large, to traffic the narcotic substance in April 2026.

The illegal shipment was allegedly coordinated through the SAHCO Export Shed at the airport’s customs area.

According to NDLEA prosecutor, Arit N. Okon, the cocaine consignment was intercepted by operatives during outward examination of UK-bound cargo before it could leave Nigeria.

The prosecutor further alleged that Moninuola unlawfully engaged Ama Obinna Ufiem of Amirotex Global Nigeria Limited and Adebayo Ayomide Stephen of STG World Cargo Logistics to facilitate the export.

The NDLEA said the acts contravene Sections 14(b), 21(2)(d) and 11(b) of the NDLEA Act Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004

Moninuola pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge.

While the prosecution sought his remand pending trial, defence counsel, Chief Benson Ndakara moved a bail application already served on the prosecution.

Okon opposed the application with an eight-paragraph counter affidavit.

In his ruling, Justice Daniel Osiagor granted the defendant bail set at N10 million with one surety in like sum, alongside other conditions.

The court adjourned the matter to October 28, 2026, for commencement of trial.

The charges include conspiracy to export 2.80 kg of cocaine, procuring logistics firms to export the drug, and unlawful export of the narcotic without authority.
