Surviving the new tax law: FirstBank empowering SMEs with November 26 webinar

As Nigeria’s fiscal landscape undergoes significant transformation, FirstBank is set to guide Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) through the complexities of compliance.

West Africa’s premier financial inclusion provider has announced that its highly anticipated SMEConnect Webinar will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

Themed “Strategies for SMEs: Securing Your Business Under the New Tax Law,” the virtual event is a crucial capacity-building initiative.

It serves as a strategic bridge for entrepreneurs, aiming to arm them with the knowledge, digital tools, and resources required to thrive amidst impending regulatory changes rather than merely surviving them.

The webinar features a stellar lineup of industry authorities. Taiwo Oyedele, the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, will deliver the keynote address, offering a deep dive into the new tax requirements.

He will be supported by Yemi Adesanya, FirstBank’s Financial Controller, and Dr Abiodun Famuyiwa, Head of SME Banking, who will host the session to discuss overcoming financial challenges.

Chuma Ezirim, Group Executive of e-Business and Retail Products at FirstBank, highlighted the critical nature of this intervention.

“The implementation of the new tax policy is fast approaching,” Ezirim stated, adding that, “SMEConnect Webinar is an initiative to ensure that SMEs are not only equipped to survive but positioned to scale sustainably.

“We want to provide all businesses with adequate information to help them navigate the regulations.”

Beyond tax strategies, the session will illuminate the advantages of formalisation and the bespoke banking solutions available to both registered and unregistered entities, particularly the FirstSME account.
