The Lagos State Judiciary is set to commence the 2026/2027 New Legal Year with a robust lineup of high-profile events, officially signalling the start of the new judicial calendar.
The ceremonies, which blend spiritual reflection with professional discourse, are designed to reinforce the institution's commitment to justice, inclusivity, and legal excellence.
In an official statement signed by the Chief Registrar of the Lagos State Judiciary, the Honourable Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Kazeem Olanrewaju Alogba, has extended a formal invitation to all judicial officers, members of the Bar and Bench, legal practitioners, and the general public to participate in the landmark celebrations.
The new legal season will officially open on Monday, September 21, 2026, with a simultaneous Interfaith Thanksgiving Service scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. promptly.
Demonstrating a strong commitment to unity and religious harmony, the service will be held concurrently at two major religious centres in Lagos, namely Central Mosque, Nnamdi Azikiwe Street, Lagos, and the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos.
The celebrations will transition from spiritual reverence to intellectual rigour on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, with the Legal Year Summit. The summit is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the prestigious Jewel Aeida in Lekki, Lagos.
This high-level gathering is expected to attract a diverse assembly of judicial officers, senior legal practitioners, policymakers, academics, and key stakeholders in the justice sector.
The discussions will focus on dissecting contemporary challenges and exploring innovative solutions to enhance the administration of justice, not only within Lagos State but across the wider Nigerian federation.
The Lagos State Judiciary underscored that the New Legal Year ceremony is a cornerstone of its annual agenda.
