Aliko Dangote Foundation Launches Student Share Grant Initiative to Build Young Nigerian Investors

LAGOS, NIGERIA
- The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has unveiled a landmark Student Share Grant Initiative to introduce young Nigerians to investing and wealth creation early in life while deepening financial literacy nationwide.

The programme, open to students aged 18 and above in public and private tertiary institutions nationwide, gives thousands of young Nigerians hands-on experience in saving, responsible investing, and ownership through direct participation in the ongoing Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE (DPRP).

Under the programme, eligible students who complete the required verification process and subscribe for a minimum of 10 DPRP shares through the designated platform, ipo.alikodangotefoundation.org, will qualify to have an additional 10 DPRP shares funded by the Foundation in their name at no extra cost.

The initiative forms part of ADF's broader commitment to empowering young Nigerians through education, economic inclusion, and practical financial knowledge. By combining investor education with real-life participation in the capital market, the Foundation hopes to cultivate a generation of informed investors and responsible wealth creators.

Chairman of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, said the programme is designed to give young Nigerians a meaningful introduction to investment and ownership.

"Supporting young people goes beyond providing access to education. It must also involve equipping them with the knowledge and opportunities to participate in economic growth and wealth creation.

“Through this initiative, we want students to understand the value of saving, responsible investing, and long-term ownership. Our goal is to help them develop an investment mindset early in life,” he said.

Dangote noted that exposing young people to investment opportunities early can significantly influence their future financial decisions and encourage greater participation in the formal economy.

According to him, “When young people understand ownership and investment early, they are better positioned to make informed financial choices, build wealth responsibly, and contribute more actively to economic development.”

Chief Executive Officer of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, Mrs Zouera Youssoufou, said the initiative bridges the gap between financial education and practical experience.

“Financial literacy becomes more impactful when people can apply what they learn. This programme allows eligible students to experience first-hand how the investment process works, from verification and subscription to allotment and ownership, while reinforcing the importance of responsible participation in the capital market,” she said.

She added that the Foundation's objective extends beyond a single IPO transaction.

“We are seeking to inspire a lifelong interest in financial literacy, investing, and asset ownership among young Nigerians. The knowledge and experience gained through this initiative can serve as a foundation for sound financial decision-making throughout their lives,” she said.

Eligible students aged 18 and above enrolled in recognised public or private tertiary institutions across Nigeria can visit ipo.alikodangotefoundation.org to complete the student verification process.

Upon successful verification, participants will be directed to the designated subscription channel where they may apply for a minimum of 10 DPRP shares in their name and for their benefit. Students who complete the process will qualify for the Foundation to fund an additional application for 10 DPRP shares.

The initiative applies solely to eligible students participating through the designated platform and cannot be used to purchase shares for another person, another Dangote company, or any other company.

ADF clarified that the Student Share Grant Initiative is a standalone Foundation programme aimed at promoting financial literacy and investment participation. Participation remains voluntary and should not be interpreted as investment advice or a recommendation to acquire DPRP shares. Prospective participants are encouraged to review all IPO documentation carefully and make their own investment decisions.
