The Dangote Group has announced a major strategic partnership with Honeywell International Inc., setting the stage for the next phase of expansion for the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and advancing its overall industrial footprint.
This collaboration is designed to provide advanced technology and services that will enable the refinery to significantly boost its processing capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day (bpd) by 2028.
This monumental goal is a crucial step in the Group’s long-term vision to establish the world’s largest petroleum refining complex.
Under the agreement, Honeywell will supply specialised catalysts, cutting-edge equipment, and proprietary process technologies.

This technological infusion allows the refinery to efficiently process a broader range of crude grades while enhancing product quality and ensuring operational reliability.
Honeywell’s division UOP has been a technology partner to Dangote since 2017, providing core refining systems, high-performance column trays, and heat exchanger technologies.
The partnership extends beyond refining. Dangote Group is also aggressively scaling its petrochemical capacity, with plans to increase polypropylene production to 2.4 million metric tons annually using Honeywell’s advanced Oleflex technology.
Polypropylene is a vital industrial material used extensively in packaging, manufacturing, and automotive sectors.
Furthermore, the Group is progressing with the next phase of its fertiliser growth plan in Nigeria. It aims to increase its urea production capacity from 3 million metric tons to an impressive 9 million metric tons annually by adding four additional trains.
This expansion will meet the surging demand for high-quality fertiliser across Africa and global markets.
Dangote Group affirmed its full commitment to delivering world-class industrial capacity, strengthening Nigeria’s energy security, and driving sustainable economic growth through strategic global partnerships and long-term investment.
