Fuelling Youth Innovation: FirstBank Announced as Official Bank for Calabar Entertainment Conference

In a major boost for Nigeria's dynamic creative industry, the Calabar Entertainment Conference (CEC), organised by Hit FM, has officially announced First Bank of Nigeria Limited as its official bank partner.

This collaboration marks a significant step towards empowering young talents and fostering sustainable growth within the sector.

Now in its 9th year, the annual CEC is a flagship youth engagement program dedicated to addressing the urgent needs of the creative sector.

According to Patrick Ugbe, CEO of Hit FM and Executive Producer of the conference, the sector is in “urgent need of interventions that facilitate capacity building, funding, distribution, and thought leadership.”

The two-day event is scheduled for October 17th and 18th at Hogis Royale in Calabar, Cross River State.

It is set to bring together a diverse mix of young talents, seasoned industry leaders, investors, and policymakers to explore opportunities, tackle challenges, and chart a clear pathway for the future of the creative economy.

FirstBank’s partnership highlights the institution's longstanding commitment to supporting youth empowerment, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Ugbe emphasised that by coming on board, FirstBank is acting as a “catalyst for growth, providing financial inclusion and fostering creativity among young Nigerians.”

Olayinka Ijabiyi, the Acting Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications at FirstBank, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Our partnership with the Calabar Entertainment Conference aligns with our drive to promote innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship as key drivers of Nigeria’s future.”

She added that the bank is leveraging platforms like the CEC through its First@Arts initiative to help stakeholders explore the “wealth of opportunities that the creative industry has to offer.”

The conference agenda includes a series of keynote addresses, masterclasses, panel discussions, and networking sessions, all designed to inspire and equip participants to thrive in the creative industry.
