The Baba Aladura and Prelate of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church Worldwide (ESOCS), Elder Dr David D.L. Bob–Manuel, has called for a renewed and intentional approach to evangelism and revival messaging as the church begins its second century of existence.
Speaking at the third edition of the ESOCS National Strategic Retreat, the revered cleric charged church leaders to embrace a more deliberate interpretation of the Great Commission, urging a shift from rhetoric to action-driven evangelism across all levels of the Holy Order.
The retreat, which brought together provincial managers, leaders of Church Management Committees (CMCs), and heads of various church organs, focused on developing strategies to strengthen the spiritual lives of members and expand the church’s influence within the wider Christian community.
The gathering comes months after ESOCS marked its centenary on September 9, 2025, celebrating 100 years of spiritual growth, resilience, and global expansion.
Addressing participants, Baba Aladura stressed that the new phase of the church must be defined by a bold revival vision, anchored on unity, repentance, and the active presence of the Holy Spirit.
“Our mission in this new dispensation is to harness technological knowledge to preserve and advance the spiritual heritage handed down by our forebears.
“We must be witnesses of Christ in this era, anticipating a revival that will sweep across the church worldwide, not as mere religious activity, but as a transformative movement,” he said.
He emphasised that evangelism must become a core responsibility of every member, rooted in biblical command and practical demonstration of faith.
“Preaching the gospel in this dispensation must go beyond rhetoric. It is compulsory for every member,” he declared, referencing the scriptural mandate in Mark 16:15.
The ESOCS leader also emphasised the importance of unity within the church, urging members to cultivate reconciliation, humility, and spiritual discipline as essential prerequisites for genuine revival.
Drawing parallels with the early church experience in Acts of the Apostles, he noted that a collective return to foundational Christian values would usher in a renewed outpouring of divine power.
Beyond preaching, he challenged leaders to model the teachings of Christ through their conduct, noting that effective ministry requires both message and lifestyle alignment.
“It is not enough to proclaim the scriptures from Genesis to Revelation. Our lives must reflect the gospel we preach,” he said.
