Dangote to Sue Truckers for Unauthorised Logo Use

Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has issued a stern warning to truck operators who are unlawfully using the company's logo on their vehicles.

The company announced it will now pursue legal action against offenders, citing that these actions have led to serious embarrassment and reputational damage.

Despite prior warnings, DIL stated that several truckers with no ties to the company continue to display its logo, often for personal gain.

These unauthorised vehicles have been linked to various incidents that were wrongly blamed on the Dangote brand.

In response, Dangote is collaborating with security agencies and law enforcement to boost its monitoring efforts and will prosecute those who misuse its brand identity.

"We have repeatedly cautioned truckers to refrain from using our logo on unauthorised vehicles.

“Moving forward, we will increase vigilance and take decisive legal action against misuse of our brand identity, particularly concerning vehicles unaffiliated with the Dangote Group,” the company said.

The company also raised concerns about the spread of misinformation, particularly the false attribution of road accidents to its fleet.

Dangote urged the public and media to verify facts before sharing them, warning against individuals who try to exploit tragedies for malicious or financial purposes.

The Dangote Group operates one of Africa’s largest commercial fleets, with more than 12,000 trucks in Nigeria alone.

Over 6,000 of these vehicles are active daily, supporting the company's vast logistics network and providing over 36,000 jobs.

Dangote stated it works closely with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other regulatory bodies to ensure its fleet adheres to operational standards and best practices.
