The Council of Legal Education and the Nigerian Law School have officially confirmed a heartbreaking incident involving the death of a student at its Lagos Campus.
In an official statement released on August 10, 2026, the institution identified the deceased as a student of the Enugu Campus who was currently participating in the externship programme in Lagos.
According to the statement signed by the Secretary to the Council and the Director of Administration, Ms Aderonke O. Osho, the student had been temporarily accommodated in the Lagos Campus hostel for the duration of the programme.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Friday, August 7, 2026.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the student tragically fell from the rooftop of the hostel at approximately 4:00 am and later succumbed to the injuries sustained.
“This tragic development deeply saddens the Nigerian Law School. Management is working closely with the appropriate authorities and the family to establish the circumstances of the incident, ensure that all necessary procedures are duly followed, and provide further information as appropriate,” the statement read.
The Council of Legal Education and the Nigerian Law School extended their deepest condolences to the family, colleagues, and all those affected by this profound loss. The institution noted that its thoughts and prayers remain with the grieving family during this difficult time.
Respecting the bereaved family’s request for privacy, the school has refrained from releasing further details at this moment.
However, the management reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of all its students and staff across every campus.
