Court Declares Emeka Christian Elobi Wanted Over Alleged Fraud Scheme

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has authorised the Nigeria Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi, to declare a suspect, Emeka Christian Elobi, wanted over allegations of criminal conspiracy, fraud, and obtaining money by false pretence.

Justice Ibrahim Ahmad Kala granted the order after listening to an ex parte motion filed and argued by counsel for the PSFU, M.Y. Bello.

In the motion marked FHC/L/MISC/496/2025, the police sought the court’s approval to not only place Elobi on its wanted list, but also to publish his name, photograph, and other identifying details in national newspapers and on official social media platforms to aid his arrest and prosecution.

Granting the request, Justice Kala ruled that the police had provided sufficient evidence to justify the order, citing the sworn affidavit deposed to by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Columbus Aniozor, attached to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).

The court’s order reads in part: “That the respondent, Emeka Christian Elobi, is hereby declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Special Fraud Unit, Force Criminal Investigation Department (Force CID), Annexe, Ikoyi, Lagos, in relation to alleged offences of criminal conspiracy, fraud, and obtaining money by false pretence.”

Justice Kala further directed the police to disseminate Elobi’s particulars through newspapers, social media, and other official channels to facilitate his apprehension.
