Ireland Deports 35 Nigerians, Including Children, Amid Unscheduled Flight Incident

At least 35 Nigerians, including five children, were deported from Ireland on a chartered flight that departed Dublin Airport on Wednesday night and landed in Nigeria on Thursday.

According to the Irish Mirror, the deportees comprised 21 men, nine women, and five children.

Irish Minister for Justice, Jim O’Callaghan, confirmed the development, noting that all returnees arrived in Nigeria despite an unscheduled stopover due to a medical emergency onboard.

While Irish authorities did not disclose specific reasons for the deportations, O’Callaghan stated, “Ireland has a rules-based immigration system. Those rules must be robust and enforced.”

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), however, said it was unaware of the deportation.

NiDCOM spokesperson, Abdur-Rahman Balogun said the commission had no prior knowledge of the mass removal carried out by the Irish government.
