President Bola Tinubu has declared a state of emergency in Rivers State amid ongoing political turmoil.
In a nationwide broadcast on Tuesday, Tinubu suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, and all House of Assembly members for six months.
Citing Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution, Tinubu justified the move as necessary to restore order.
The section allows emergency rule in cases of national danger or crisis, granting the federal government broad powers to suspend normal constitutional processes.
