Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote has nearly doubled his net worth to $23.9 billion, securing the 86th spot on the Forbes Real-Time Billionaires List.
This marks a significant rise from his 144th position in 2024 when his wealth was recorded at $13.4 billion.
His financial growth is primarily attributed to his 92.3% stake in the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals, the largest refinery in Africa.
The massive facility began operations last year following an 11-year, $23 billion investment and has transformed Nigeria's reliance on fuel imports, enabling the country to become a net exporter of refined petroleum products.
At 67, Dangote views the refinery as a catalyst for Africa's industrialization, stating, “We have to build our continent by ourselves.”
He now ranks significantly ahead of South Africa’s Johann Rupert ($14.4 billion, 161st) and Nigeria’s Mike Adenuga ($6.8 billion, 481st), solidifying his status as Africa’s wealthiest i
ndividual.
