Dangote Group Reaffirms Commitment to Sustainability at Kaduna Trade Fair

The Dangote Group has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to sustainability in its operations across Nigeria, emphasizing that the well-being of the people remains at the core of its business strategy.

This declaration came during the 2025 Kaduna International Trade Fair, where the conglomerate is actively participating in partnership with the Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (KADCCIMA).

Speaking to journalists at the fair, Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding & Communication Officer of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), emphasized that sustainability is not just a business goal but a core principle of the company’s operations.

“We are irrevocably committed to sustainability because the well-being of the people is at the centre of our operations,” Chiejina stated, reiterating Dangote’s dedication to fostering economic growth through environmentally and socially responsible business practices.

Praise for Dangote’s Investments

At a conference organized by KADCCIMA during the fair, industry experts and business leaders commended Dangote Group's significant contributions across multiple sectors.

The discussions also underscored the need for government policies that encourage and support local entrepreneurs.

Dr Umar Buba Bindir, former Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, delivered a keynote address advocating for consistency in government policies. He specifically highlighted the Dangote Petroleum Refinery as a shining example of Nigeria’s potential to compete on a global scale.

According to Bindir, Aliko Dangote’s courage in bringing the refinery project to fruition positions him as a “Global Groundbreaker.”

“It is incredible for Dangote to have built such a refinery. It is a global groundbreaker, and for him to sustain this effort while challenging the established oil and gas cartels is remarkable,” Bindir stated.

He noted that despite the refinery being located in a free trade zone, it remains a strategic business decision that maximizes Nigeria’s economic potential.

Calls for Dangote’s Expansion into Steel Industry

Dr Bindir also encouraged Dangote to expand his industrial influence into the steel sector, describing it as a crucial component of Nigeria’s economic growth.

“No country has successfully unleashed its entrepreneurial energy in manufacturing without developing a strong steel industry,” Bindir emphasized.

With Nigeria’s population surpassing 250 million, he stressed that the country requires massive investments in infrastructure, job creation, and industrial production—all of which are highly dependent on a robust steel sector.

“I believe Dangote should enter the steel industry. With his experience, financial capacity, and international recognition in key markets like China and India, he has the potential to transform the sector. Given his perseverance in oil and gas, he could also overcome challenges in steel manufacturing,” Bindir added.
