The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has taken President Bola Tinubu to court for allegedly failing to investigate and recover over N57 billion reportedly missing, diverted, or stolen from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
The funds were flagged in the 2021 audited report by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation, which detailed alleged mismanagement, including missing stipends for N-Power trainees and unaccounted funds for a COVID-19 school feeding program.
Joined in the suit is the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi, with SERAP urging the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos to compel the government to act against those implicated.
The group argued that ignoring the allegations violates constitutional and anti-corruption laws while deepening poverty and inequality in the country.
No hearing date has been set.
