FESTAC Residents Accuse FHA of Violating Court Order, Petition Inspector General of Police

Residents of FESTAC Town, Lagos, have petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, over alleged illegal demolitions by the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) in defiance of a court injunction.

The petition, filed through legal counsel, Adetayo Bello, claimed that the FHA officials, including Zonal Manager, Architect Akintola Olagbenro, have continued to demolish properties in FESTAC’s 6th Avenue Extension despite a restraining order issued by Justice O.J. Awope of the High Court of Lagos State, Ikeja, on September 11, 2023.

In the petition, the residents alleged that these actions constitute contempt of court and abuse of power, calling for urgent police intervention to investigate those involved and prevent further violations.

As of the time of filing this report, the FHA had yet to issue an official response.
