The Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, presided over by Justice Abimbola Awogboro, has ordered the remand of a 25-year-old lady, Nwobi Oluebube F Favour and her mother, Nwobi Ebele Angela, 55, over their alleged involvement in the usage of two underaged girls as domestic servants.
Justice Awogboro decided after the duo pleaded not guilty to the four counts of harbouring and using two underage girls (names withheld) for domestic works, brought against them by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
The defendants who live at B41, Abijoh GRA, Chois Garden Estate, Lekki, Lagos State, were alleged to have committed the offence between May and November 2023.
Arraigning the duo, the prosecutor, Uzunwa I. Egonu hinted to Justice Awogboro that their unlawful and exploitative actions had exposed the two teenagers to physical, social and psychological development.
