Margaret Dumbiri Emefiele, the wife of the embattled former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has been declared wanted.
She was declared wanted alongside three others by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged involvement in money laundering.
Others declared wanted are Eric Ocheme Odoh (m), Jonathan Omoile (m) and Anita Joy Omoile (f) for allegedly conniving with the immediate past CBN governor to convert “huge sums of money” belonging to the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN).
In a public statement, the anti-graft agency equally accused the wanted individuals of committing a felony to wit: obtaining money by false pretence and stealing, contrary to and punishable under Sections 411, 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.”
The EFCC urged people with information on the whereabouts of the wanted people to contact any of its offices or call 08093322644.
It would be recalled that the former CBN boss is standing trial on a 20-count amended charge bordering on conferment of corrupt advantages, conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, forgery and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of Six Million, Two Hundred and Thirty Thousand United States Dollar ($6,230,000.00).
