LASWA Hosts NEMA, Explores Collaboration

The leadership of the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), on Thursday, hosted representatives from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) at the LASWA Head Office at the Five Cowries Terminal, Falomo, Ikoyi, Lagos State.

The NEMA representatives were warmly received by LASWA General Manager, Oluwadamilola Emmanuel and other top officials of the Authority.

The NEMA team was led by the Lagos State Coordinator of the Agency, Farinloye Ibrahim; as well as Ajose Sikiru who heads the Search-and-Rescue team of the Agency in the state.

The NEMA team paid the courtesy visit as a gesture of goodwill. During the meeting, the two parties discussed ways to enhance the cooperation and collaboration between LASWA and NEMA.

Among the topics discussed was the possibility of inviting LASWA to participate in a stakeholders’ conference, which aims to bring together representatives from all 36 states of the country.

The purpose of the conference is to learn from LASWA's successful management of inland waterways' transportation in Lagos, with a focus on safety and incident prevention.

Recall that LASWA has an existing collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and other federal government agencies on multi-sectoral partnerships.
