Primate Elijah Ayodele of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Lagos, has warned that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu risks losing the 2027 presidential election if he ignores critical advice on governance, economic reforms and national stability.
Speaking while unveiling more of his prophecies for 2026, the cleric said Nigerians would openly turn against Tinubu’s second-term ambition if current policies, especially tax reforms and borrowing, continue without a change in approach.
According to him, the proposed tax laws would worsen hardship for citizens and fuel public anger against the administration.
Primate Ayodele cautioned that even political strategy would not save the president if economic pressure on Nigerians deepens.
He claimed that public dissatisfaction could be so intense that Tinubu would be rejected at the polls regardless of political arrangements.
He also predicted intense political drama across major parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the country moves closer to the 2027 elections.
According to him, the pre-election period would be characterised by internal crises, power struggles and widespread tension.
On national security and public health, the cleric warned of an increase in strange sicknesses and heart-related ailments in 2026, calling on medical professionals to pay closer attention to heart diseases.
He further urged Nigerians to pray against attacks on churches, particularly within the month of January, stressing the need for vigilance.
Primate Ayodele also spoke on global and domestic security concerns, urging the Nigerian government to closely monitor international developments, including potential foreign military actions, which he said could have wider implications.
He predicted an upsurge in fire outbreaks and explosions, advising authorities and citizens to be cautious.
While calling for prayers for President Tinubu, he noted that the president would struggle to find peace of mind amid mounting challenges.
Criticising Nigeria’s reliance on borrowing, Primate Ayodele described excessive loans as suicidal to the economy.
He advised the president to focus on harnessing the country’s abundant natural resources as a sustainable means of revenue generation.
According to him, failure to heed this counsel could trigger resistance not only from the public but also across political institutions, leading to what he described as a potentially disastrous election in 2027.
He urged the government to implement reforms gradually and sensitively to reduce their impact on Nigerians and avoid political backlash.
