Former Bauchi SSG Denies Fraud Allegations, Says Exit Not Linked to Wrongdoing - The News Accelerator Network

Former Secretary to the Bauchi State Government (SSG), Ibrahim Kashim, has denied allegations of fraud levelled against him by Governor Bala Mohammed, insisting that he was never indicted, investigated, or found culpable of any financial impropriety during his tenure.

Kashim, who spoke through a statement issued at the weekend, was reacting to claims attributed to the governor that his removal from office was due to alleged fraudulent activities.

He described the assertion as unfortunate, misleading, and entirely untrue. He challenged Governor Mohammed to take the matter to a competent court of law if there was any evidence against him.

According to the former SSG, no panel of inquiry, audit report, law enforcement agency, or anti-corruption body ever queried or accused him of fraud throughout his tenure.

He maintained that at no time was he investigated or indicted for any act of financial misconduct while serving the Bauchi State Government.

“At no time during my tenure as Secretary to the State Government was I indicted, queried, investigated, or found culpable of any act of fraud or financial impropriety.

“Any suggestion to the contrary is a blatant distortion of facts and a regrettable attempt to deflect attention from more substantive issues,” Kashim stated.

He further clarified that his exit from office was not based on any proven wrongdoing, stressing that he served the state with diligence, transparency, and strict adherence to the law.

Kashim added that he remains proud of his record in public service and is willing to give a full account of his stewardship to any competent authority or to the Nigerian public.

The former SSG also expressed concern over what he described as the deliberate projection of false narratives against individuals who had devoted years to public service.

He warned that such claims undermine fairness, accountability, and truth in public discourse, while causing damage to personal reputations.

Kashim disclosed that he would soon address members of the press and the public to comprehensively clarify the issues surrounding his resignation and the allegations against him.

“At that time, I will respond in detail to this dastardly and cowardly deflection of issues and place the facts, clearly and verifiably, before the court of public opinion,” he said, adding, “Talk is cheap, facts are sacred.”
