Pastor Ighodalo Endorses SDP’s Prince Adewole Adebayo as Nigeria’s Ideal Leader

Pastor Itua Ighodalo, founder of the African Leadership Group (ALG) and lead pastor of Trinity House Christian Fellowship, has publicly endorsed Prince Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) 2023 presidential candidate, as the type of leader Nigeria urgently needs to navigate its persistent socio-political and economic challenges.

The cleric, in a statement, praised Adebayo’s blend of youthfulness, knowledge, and determination, emphasising that these qualities uniquely position him to lead Nigeria toward meaningful progress.

He acknowledged that while Adebayo may currently lack an extensive network of political connections, this gap could easily be bridged by a strong party infrastructure.

“Adebayo is 53 years old, bringing the right mix of energy and experience. Though he may not have a broad bandwidth of interrelationships and connections, a robust political party system can provide the necessary support to elevate his candidacy.

“He speaks well and demonstrates a clear vision for Nigeria’s future, he just needs the right platform,” Ighodalo said.

Highlighting Nigeria’s leadership vacuum, he explained that the country is still searching for a leader who possesses genuine compassion, courage, and a patriotic commitment to national transformation.

According to Ighodalo, this leader should ideally be between 45 and 65 years of age, combining maturity with vigour to manage Nigeria’s complex socioeconomic realities.

“A candidate under 40 may lack the experience and networks necessary for a nation as diverse and complicated as Nigeria.

“But someone in the 45 to 65 age bracket, equipped with a strong party and an experienced advisory team, can bring real change.

“Prince Adebayo falls right within that range,” he explained. Ighodalo stressed that effective governance demands a profound understanding of Nigeria’s history, cultural diversity, and religious complexities.

Equally important, the cleric stated, are qualities such as honesty, hard work, visionary leadership, and boldness in international diplomacy.

“The leader must be accommodating and incorruptible, wholly devoted to Nigeria’s collective good rather than personal gain.

“Unfortunately, many current leaders prioritise their interests over the nation’s,” he lamented.

Ighodalo also highlighted that Nigeria is not short of capable leaders but that these individuals often lack public exposure or political prominence, adding that this reality partly motivates the mission of the African Leadership Group, which seeks to identify, connect, and empower competent Nigerians within the country and across the diaspora.

“There are many talented Nigerians around the world excelling in various fields. Our goal at ALG is to find these individuals, engage with them, and bring them into leadership roles, whether as president or essential team members.

“Running Nigeria requires a diverse, capable team, and that team exists within our people if given the chance,” he said.
