Women of Substance Launches Maiden Sisters’ Hangout

•To Forge New Pathways for Female Leadership

A new, formidable platform for strategic female empowerment is set to debut as Women of Substance, founded by media consultant, Chief Ify Onyegbule (Ada Di Ora Mma), prepares to host the maiden edition of the ‘Sisters’ Hangout.

Scheduled as an exclusive lunch-table conversation, the Hangout is designed as a strategic networking and empowerment gathering “for Women, by Women, and powered by Women,” aiming to foster collaboration, enhance visibility, drive personal growth, and forge impactful partnerships across diverse sectors.

The Sisters’ Hangout is bridging the gap between established and emerging voices, drawing attendees and speakers from journalism, business, education, media, fintech, philanthropy, data science, food services, and grassroots development

It is positioned as more than a social event; it is a vital catalyst for cross-industry collaborations, leadership capacity building, and community impact.

The event boasts an extraordinary line up of 12 accomplished women, each bringing unique expertise to the high-powered conversation.

Petra Akinti Onyegbule, a Corporate Communications Strategist, will tackle the subject of keeping a brand alive, relevant, and competitive in a saturated marketplace, focusing on leadership communication and storytelling.

Theresa Moses, a journalist and media leader who also runs the fast-growing FMCG brand Vita Baites Foods, will share invaluable insights on successfully combining media leadership with managing an FMCG venture.

Chioma Iroabuchi, a Digital Transformation Leader, will explore the tech landscape, demystifying the beginner steps into the fintech sector, specifically for women exploring opportunities in technology.

Complementing this, Data Scientist Temitayo Oluwatobi Adetoba will educate attendees on the importance of data, making tapping a necessity for women to tap into the booming data ecosystem.

The event’s scope extends to the home and community. UK-trained therapist Wemimo Adebiyi will lead discussions on child mental health and effective communication in school systems, while Educator Cordy Nachi Opara will shed light on nurturing children with different personalities and how mothers can be intentional leaders in the home.

Insights into specialised industries will come from Olayinka Mayaki-Yusuf, General Manager of Shipshape Cleaners Limited, who will share what it takes to thrive in the competitive professional cleaning service industry.

Food service expert, Anthonia Ojenagbon, will discuss the pressures of large-scale catering, and Ijeoma Uzozie Mark-Abii, an Estate Surveyor, will demystify the business of tourism and hospitality.

Decades of media experience will be brought by Chief Yinka Kenny, a Broadcast Journalist and Gender Champion, who will reveal the behind-the-scenes challenges faced by women in media, alongside strategies for sustained success.

The community focus is amplified by Oluwatomisin Adebukola, an award-winning journalist, who will highlight the realities of working in grassroots spaces.

Additionally, Anusiem DO (Nwachukwu Delphine Onyinye), the visionary behind Brisa Women Foundation, will share impactful stories of women's empowerment and the importance of community-driven action.

According to the Convener, Chief Ify Onyegbule, a celebrated broadcast media consultant and Director General of the Imo Broadcasting Corporation (IBC), the goal of the Hangout is, “Women must step out, connect, network, and impact. No one is coming to hand you opportunities, you must reach out and take them. This Hangout gives women the runway to do exactly that.”
