Fuji music icon, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, has publicly apologised for an altercation at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on August 5, 2025.
Addressing members of the press, the veteran artist expressed deep regret, accepting full responsibility for his behaviour and seeking forgiveness from a wide range of individuals and authorities.
It would be recalled that the incident, which occurred as Ayinde was preparing to board a ValueJet flight to Lagos, has drawn significant public attention.
“Somebody like me should not be found in such incidents,” he stated, acknowledging his long-standing role as a cultural ambassador for Nigeria.
Ayinde clarified that the beverage cup he carried, which was reportedly at the center of the dispute, had been screened twice.
He explained that he later filled it with water in the airport lounge, citing a doctor's recommendation to stay hydrated due to a health condition.
“I need to be sipping water because I'm dehydrated,” he explained.
The musician's apology was extensive, directed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the airline's staff and passengers, and his global fanbase.
He emphasised his "unshakable" love for Nigeria and vowed to continue representing the nation as a proud ambassador.
“Please accept my apology,” he concluded.
