The Ex-Commandos Association, an alumni network of Command Day Secondary School, Jos (CDSSJ), is celebrating a remarkable academic feat by one of its own, Goodhead David Ibinabo, who scored an outstanding 364 in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
David, a current student of CDSSJ located in Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Rukuba Barracks, Plateau State, emerged as one of the top scorers nationwide in the highly competitive examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Describing David as a symbol of excellence, Comrade Solomon Gamdi, the school’s Examination Officer, said, “David is an embodiment of excellence which defines our alma mater and the Ex-Commando community nationwide.”
Gamdi revealed that David first attempted the UTME at the age of 15 last year and scored above 300 marks but was disqualified due to age restrictions.
Undeterred, he registered again this year and achieved a near-perfect score.
“This young man is a beacon of hope for students across Nigeria,” Gamdi added.
David is also a beneficiary of a scholarship initiative championed by retired Major General O.O. Oshinoa, a former General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division and ex-Commander of the Special Task Force in Jos.
The General recently disbursed close to ₦600,000 in scholarships to support education at CDSSJ.
“David’s brilliance is a direct product of General Oshinoa’s vision and generosity,” Gamdi noted.
In recognition of his stellar performance, the Ex-Commandos Association plans to honour David at its upcoming Annual National Executives Council Meeting.
He will be celebrated alongside other outstanding students and alumni who exemplify the school’s core values of leadership, discipline, and academic excellence.
