Supreme Court Reinstates Senator Anyanwu as PDP Secretary

The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Friday reinstated Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a unanimous judgment, a five-member panel ruled that matters concerning a political party’s leadership or membership are internal affairs and beyond judicial intervention.

The court overturned the December 20, 2024, decision of the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, which upheld Anyanwu’s removal by a Federal High Court. 

It held that the lower court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case filed by Aniagwu Emmanuel, thereby restoring Anyanwu’s position within the party.
