Polaris Bank Clinches Prestigious SERAS Award for Sustainability Leadership

Polaris Bank has been honoured with the coveted Sustainability, Enterprise, and Responsibility Awards (SERAS), Africa’s premier accolade for Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The recognition highlights the bank’s unwavering dedication to transformative community interventions across Nigeria.

At the 18th edition of the SERAS Awards, held at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos, Polaris Bank received the “Best in Rural Population Integration” award for its impactful initiatives.

The award celebrates organizations that champion sustainable development, innovation, and solutions with lasting societal benefits.

A Legacy of Community Impact

Polaris Bank’s recognition stems from its robust portfolio of sustainability and CSR initiatives that have improved lives, promoted social equity, and reduced rural-to-urban migration.

Notable achievements include: Planting 2,000 economic trees in communities such as Ajingi in Kano State to promote environmental sustainability, renovating the Ibeju-Lekki Skill Acquisition Centre and donating equipment to empower local youth, Installing boreholes in underserved communities, providing access to clean water, delivering educational materials to over 15,000 indigent students in public secondary schools, ensuring continuous education for children in remote areas, offering free breast cancer screenings to 20,000 women and creating a support network for survivors, establishing hospitals and rehabilitation centres for sexual violence victims and vocational centres for women, supporting Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) with medical outreach programs and donations.

Rebuilding Communities and Restoring Hope

Polaris Bank’s resilience was also demonstrated through its recent reopening of the Sagamu branch, destroyed during cash riots earlier this year.

The bank’s swift reconstruction and re-equipping of the branch restored critical financial services to the community, reinforcing its role as a partner in economic recovery.

Leadership in Sustainability

Speaking on the award, Polaris Bank’s Managing Director, Kayode Lawal, emphasized the organization’s commitment to sustainability.

“Sustainability is not just a cliché for us; it is a journey. Our deliberate efforts in community development address pressing challenges while reducing the impacts of climate change on our environment and economy,” he stated.

Celebrating Africa’s Sustainability Champions

The SERAS Awards ceremony brought together policymakers, CEOs, and sustainability leaders from across Africa to celebrate achievements in advancing sustainable development.
