The immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, on Tuesday, honoured an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) concerning allegations of misappropriation of public funds during his tenure.
According to a statement from Bello’s media office, the former governor voluntarily presented himself at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, accompanied by his legal team.
This development follows the recent Supreme Court ruling that affirmed the constitutionality of the EFCC, dismissing a case brought by state governments challenging the agency's powers.
The statement revealed that Bello arrived at the EFCC office in a black Hilux vehicle, which he drove.
Details of the investigation remain undisclosed, but the EFCC has been probing allegations of financial misconduct during Bello’s administration.
Bello’s media office reiterated his commitment to transparency and compliance with legal processes, expressing confidence that the matter would be resolved fairly.
