Idris Okuneye, the well-known Nigerian cross-dresser popularly referred to as Bobrisky, reportedly left the country in a display of opulence just days after being released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The flamboyant social media personality shared snippets of his departure on Instagram, sparking widespread reaction online.
In a series of videos uploaded to his Instagram story early on Monday, Bobrisky hinted at his departure from Nigeria without disclosing his intended destination.
His posts included videos showing the luxurious setting of his first-class seating and commentary that emphasized his costly travel arrangements.
“See you soon, Nigeria. This girl bought a first-class ticket three times; that’s over 30 million. Raise the bar for this girl,” he declared in one of the video clips, signalling his exit with a touch of characteristic flair.
The 30 million naira figures he referenced roughly equates to $40,000, underscoring the extravagant nature of his trip.
Bobrisky, a controversial figure in Nigeria, has consistently drawn attention for his bold lifestyle, unconventional fashion, and outspoken personality, often sharing his luxurious lifestyle with millions of followers on social media.
His latest posts have generated both admiration and criticism from fans and detractors alike, with some praising his resilience in the face of recent legal challenges, while others expressed frustration at the public display of wealth.
The EFCC recently detained Bobrisky on undisclosed charges. While the exact nature of the case remains unclear, sources indicate it may be linked to allegations of financial misconduct.
However, Bobrisky has yet to make any formal statements regarding the reason for his detention or whether he anticipates further legal proceedings upon his return to Nigeria.
