DHQ Refutes Claims of Acting COAS Appointment, Warns Against Calls for Military Takeover

The Nigerian Army has rejected media reports alleging a leadership vacuum due to the absence of Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.

In a statement on Monday, signed by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, the Army cautioned against calls for a military coup, labelling such actions as treasonable under the law.

This clarification follows the emergence of a viral video in which individuals expressed discontent and called for military intervention. The Army confirmed there has been no appointment of an acting Chief of Army Staff to replace Lagbaja, who is currently on annual leave.
