Ndifreke Saviour Mark (Late) |
Former Minister of Aviation Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has announced the unexpected passing of his personal assistant, Mr Ndifreke Saviour Mark, who served him for 34 years.
Mark reportedly died on Sunday at Mildy Lodge and Apartments in Garki, Abuja, while in the company of an unidentified individual.
"It is with deep sorrow that I share the news of the passing of my devoted Special Assistant, Mr Ndifreke Saviour Mark, who had been with me for over three decades.
"He left home at 5:40 AM on Sunday, October 13, for Morning Mass at the Catholic Church of Assumption in Asokoro.
“Afterward, he went to the Mildy Lodge and Apartments in Abuja.
“According to police reports, he secured a room at the hotel and appeared to have slumped and died in the presence of another individual," Fani-Kayode stated.
Emergency responders transported Mark to Asokoro District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The individual who was with him at the time is now in police custody, pending investigation, and Fani-Kayode has called for a thorough criminal inquiry and autopsy.
The hotel receptionist is also detained, while the hotel's manager and owner have been questioned.
The police have sealed the hotel for investigation, including the specific room where Mark stayed.
"I have informed his family and met with his wife, Barrister Patience Ndifreke-Mark, and his uncle, Mr Clement Mathias, who represented the family.
“I am committed to ensuring that justice is served if any foul play is suspected," Fani-Kayode added.
He expressed profound grief over Mark's passing, recalling their shared aspirations and years of companionship.
"Losing him is a significant blow, but I am grateful for the 52 years he spent on this earth."
Fani-Kayode pledged support to Mark's family during this difficult time and expressed confidence in the FCT Police Command to uncover the truth.
"Mark was a kind-hearted, reliable, and compassionate individual who brought joy to many.
“His memory will forever remain in our hearts. May Ndifreke's soul rest in peace, and may the Almighty comfort his wife and two young children,” he concluded.
