Minimum Wage War: No Going Back On Indefinite Strike, Says Organised Labour

“The indefinite strike will go on beginning from today, Monday, June 3, 2024.”

The above proclamation was made by the organised labour, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, during a meeting with a committee of the National Assembly.

The organised Labour equally stated that it has no mandate to call off the strike.

Consequently, both the NLC and TUC instructed workers to stay at home and insist on a living wage instead of the current starvation wage the government is paying workers.

“We are not entitled to call off the industrial action approved by our organs.

“Thus, The action will continue while we will have a meeting with our organs to relate to them your proposals,” the organised labour hinted to the leadership of the National Assembly.

The organised labour is demanding a minimum wage of N650,000, reversal of recent electricity tariffs and discontinuation of classification of consumers into bands by discos.

Meanwhile, organised labour has rejected the N54,000 minimum wages offered by the federal government.
