After ECOWAS Threat, Burkina Faso, Mali Deploys Fighter Jets To Niger Republic

Following the threats issued by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to restore democracy in the Niger Republic through military force, Burkina Faso and Mali have deployed warplanes to the Niger Republic.

The joint efforts by Mali and Burkina Faso in support of Niger and the deployment of warplanes within Niger’s borders on Friday was reported by Niger television station.

According to the report, the planes were Super Tucano fighter jets.

It would be recalled that the coup leaders had imprisoned President Mohamed Bazoum on June 26 and dissolved the elected government of Niger, a major uranium producer and Western ally in the fight against an Islamist insurgency.
