Senate Presidency: Akpabio knocks out Yari



The former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio, on Tuesday clinched the position of the Senate President.


Akpabio knocked out Senator Abdul’aziz Yari to get to his new position.


The former governor was elected as President of the 10th Senate after scoring 63 votes to defeat Senator Yari who scored 46 votes.


Subsequently, Akpabio was sworn in as the President of the Senate for the 10th National Assembly, succeeding Senator Ahmad Lawan, who is also a member of the 10th Senate.
