'Use Of Old Naira Notes Extended'—CBN

The deadline for the exchange of old naira notes for newly designed ones has been extended until February 10, 2023.

This development was made public on Sunday by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), through a statement issued by its governor, Godwin Emefiele.

It would be recalled that the CBN had set the deadline for the old N200, N500, and N1000 for January 31, 2023, but due to the scarcity of the new ones and its attendant effects on the economy, there has been pressure on the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, to extend the deadline.
