LATE ABIMBOLA OGBONNA |
The Lagos State Police Commissioner has been urged to grant a bereaved woman, Mrs. Comfort Ebele Martins, bail.
Mrs. Martins, according to her Lawyer, Odiana Eriata, lost her daughter, Abimbola Ogbonna in mysterious circumstances through a fire incident.
The prime suspect, Ikechukwu Ogboona, was arrested and charged before an Oyingbo Magistrates' Court for negligence instead of murder.
The family through Eriata raised an alarm that based on the petition from the said Ogbonna, Mrs. Comfort was arrested and detained.
Describing the police's action as embarrassing, Eriata demanded the release of Mrs. Martins on administrative bail.
The lawyer reminded the police that a Coroner has been set up and scheduled to sit in Epe on January 7, 2023.
“We are appealing to you to use your good office to direct the immediate release of the mother of the deceased and other family members detained by the police.
“We request you to stop further arrest, intimidation, and harassment of the mother of the deceased and the entire family.
“We also humbly request you to direct the formations to desist from harassing, intimidating, and arresting the deceased family until the resolutions of the issues before the court and or any other ancillary issues relating to the death of late Abimboia Ogbonna”
