Dangote Foundation Begins Rice Distribution to Host Communities Nationwide

The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has kicked off its National Food Intervention Programme with the distribution of thousands of 10 kg bags of rice to vulnerable households in Dangote Cement host communities across Nigeria.

The rollout started in Ibese and Itori, Ogun State, targeting 17 communities in Ibese and 36 in Itori and Ijebu-Igbo.

Beneficiaries include low-income families, elderly residents, and other vulnerable groups struggling with high food prices and inflation.

ADF Chief Executive, Zouera Youssoufou, represented by Head of Operations, Victor Ejiro, said the intervention aims to provide immediate relief to households hit by economic strain.

“At the Aliko Dangote Foundation, we recognise the current economic realities facing many Nigerian households. This support is our way of standing with our communities and ensuring no household is left behind,” Youssoufou stated.

Traditional rulers in the host communities praised the initiative. The Aboro of Ibeseland, Oba Rotimi Oluseyi Mulero, described it as operation feed the families, while the Olu of Itori, Oba Abdulfatai Akorede Akamo, said the support arrived at a critical time when many households are under pressure.

To ensure transparency, local coordinators and community representatives supervised distribution at multiple points, guaranteeing equitable access for intended beneficiaries.

The food intervention forms part of Dangote Group’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility efforts across Ogun, Kogi, Benue, Edo, and other states. These include infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic empowerment programs.

ADF confirmed plans to expand the programme to more communities, reinforcing its mission to improve food access and strengthen social safety nets amid Nigeria’s economic challenges.
