Dangote Refinery Slashes Aviation Fuel Price to N1,650/Litre, Offers 30-Day Interest-Free Credit to Airlines

Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has cut the price of Jet A1 aviation fuel by N100, reducing it from N1,750 to N1,650 per litre.

The move aims to alleviate mounting cost pressures on Nigerian airlines and ensure a steady fuel supply nationwide.

To further support operators, the refinery introduced a 30-day interest-free credit facility backed by bank guarantees for marketers and airline operators.

It also transitioned pricing from a dollar-denominated structure to a naira-based model, shielding carriers from forex volatility.

Aviation fuel remains one of the largest expenses for domestic airlines, often accounting for more than 40% of operational costs.

Industry leaders have warned that soaring Jet A1 prices were threatening flight schedules and the long-term viability of local carriers.

By lowering procurement costs and offering flexible payment terms, Dangote’s intervention is expected to improve operational stability for airlines and help moderate airfares for passengers.

The refinery’s increased domestic supply is also projected to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported aviation fuel.
