Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, Widow of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Dies Following Tehran Airstrike

TEHRANMansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, the widow of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has died from injuries sustained in the same military operation that claimed her husband’s life.

According to reports from Al Jazeera, Bagherzadeh passed away two days after the targeted US-Israeli airstrike on the Supreme Leader’s compound in Tehran.

Her death marks the further dissolution of the inner circle of Iran’s longest-serving leader.

The strike, which has sent shockwaves through the region, reportedly decimated the immediate Khamenei family

Iranian state media confirmed Sunday that several other family members were killed in the blast, including Khamenei’s daughter and grandchild, his daughter-in-law, and his son-in-law.

Born in 1947, Bagherzadeh was 79 at the time of her death. She married Ali Khamenei in 1965, long before he rose to the pinnacle of Iranian power following the 1979 Revolution

Together, they had six children — four sons and two daughters. Unlike many spouses of world leaders, Bagherzadeh was defined by her absence from the spotlight.

She held no official title and never assumed public-facing duties, choosing instead to support her husband’s decades-long rule from within the private sphere of their home.
