Access Pad Me A Girl 2.0: Battling Period Poverty Across Abuja, Benue, Nasarawa IDP Camps

ABUJA, NIGERIA – In a significant move to combat period poverty and restore hope to displaced populations, the Pad Me A Girl Empowerment Foundation, in partnership with Access Bank, has successfully concluded a high-impact humanitarian mission across the North-Central region of Nigeria.

The four-day outreach, titled ‘Access Pad Me A Girl 2.0,’ took place from February 6th to 9th, 2026.

The initiative targeted vulnerable women and girls residing in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps across the Federal Capital Territory (Area 1 and Durumi), Benue State (Ortese), and Nasarawa State (Kadarko).

Recognising that menstrual hygiene is often a neglected crisis in displacement zones, the foundation provided more than just sanitary products.

Beneficiaries received reusable sanitary pads, educational materials, and essential welfare.

Theresa Moses, Convener of the Pad Me A Girl Empowerment Foundation, emphasised that the initiative is rooted in the belief that fundamental biology should never be a barrier to a girl’s future.

“Menstrual hygiene is not a privilege; it is a basic right. Through this partnership with Access Bank, we are not only providing reusable pads but also hope, education, and reassurance that these girls are seen and supported,” Moses stated.

She further noted that the inclusion of educational materials was a deliberate strategy to ensure that displacement and menstruation do not lead to school dropouts.

The Foundation lauded Access Bank’s involvement as a gold standard for corporate social responsibility
