They Don't Care if You Die, Primate Ayodele Laments the State of Nigerian Leadership

LAGOS, NIGERIA – The Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has issued a scathing indictment of the Nigerian political class, describing the nation's leaders as wicked, selfish, and greedy individuals who have completely abandoned the citizens they were elected to serve.

Speaking on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the international headquarters of his ministry, the servant of God lamented the widening gap between the ruling elite and the suffering masses.

In a prophetic declaration that touched on the moral decay within the corridors of power, Primate Ayodele asserted that Nigeria’s progress is being deliberately stifled by those at the helm of affairs.

“Our government spends unwisely; they are not ready to help the citizens. You cannot go to them for help; they won’t answer you.

“But if you seek political assistance, because they know they will need you, they will suddenly come out and claim they want to help.

“How can Nigeria move forward when we have wicked people in government?” Ayodele declared.

The cleric expressed deep concern over the lack of empathy shown by most state executives, noting that only a very small number of governors still possess a milk of human conscience.

He accused the majority of selling their souls to political interests, stating that while they ignore the cries of the poor, they are quick to release funds at the speed of light whenever a political godfather gives the order.

Addressing the recurring issue of electoral corruption, Primate Ayodele warned Nigerians that the cycle of hardship would only break when the culture of vote-buying ends.

He urged the electorate to resist the temptation of selling their birthright for a pittance during elections.

“Don’t vote for people who will give you ₦10,000 to vote and then disappear. If you like, sell your conscience or your future for ₦3,000 or ₦5,000, that is your business.

“But vote wisely. Our leaders are abusive of power and self-centred. Greedy people rule us, and that is why corruption will not end, because in this situation, everywhere is corrupt.” he said.

Despite his harsh critique, the Primate clarified that he was not advocating for a boycott of the polls.

Instead, he encouraged Nigerians to seek divine intervention through prayer while making credible choices at the ballot box.

He emphasised that the time has come for the country to be led by individuals who do not rely on financial inducement to gain office, but rather on a genuine desire to serve.

“Wicked people, they don’t care; if you want to die, die. That is why Nigeria needs prayers. We must help ourselves by voting for the right people in the coming election,” he added somberly.
