Dangote Refinery Moves to N799 Gantry Price, Maintains 50M Litre Daily PMS Output

LAGOS, NIGERIA – Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has moved to reassure the public of a steady, uninterrupted supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) across the country, following the conclusion of a strategic festive price intervention.

As the nation transitions out of the high-spending holiday season, the refinery confirmed that it is maintaining a robust distribution volume of approximately 50 million litres of PMS daily.

This consistent output is designed to ensure market stability and prevent the fuel scarcity that historically plagued the country before the refinery's operational scale-up.

In a move described as a deliberate and temporary intervention, the refinery absorbed high costs during the recent festive period to ease the financial burden on Nigerian households.

This marked the second consecutive year the company provided such a cushion, following logistics support in 2024 and a direct price reduction in 2025.

However, the refinery noted a disconnect at the retail level. Despite the refinery lowering costs to promote market calm, many independent filling stations failed to pass those savings on to consumers at the pump.

With the holiday window closed, the refinery has announced a modest realignment of prices to ensure long-term sustainability.

The current pricing structure is as follows:

PMS Gantry Price: ₦799 per litre

MRS Retail Price: ₦839 per litre

This adjustment is intended to balance affordability with the operational requirements of maintaining Africa’s largest energy hub.

David Bird, CEO of Dangote Petroleum Refinery, emphasised that the facility's technical superiority is the primary safeguard for Nigeria’s energy security

He maintained that the refinery’s design allows it to process diverse crude and intermediate feedstocks, meaning supply remains steady even during scheduled maintenance.

“Our capability ensures that domestic supply remains stable and uninterrupted,” Bird stated, noting that the refinery serves as a critical buffer against the price shocks and supply disruptions typical of the international import market.
