FirstBank Elevates Carnival Calabar 2025 with First-Ever Private Premium Seating

FirstBank of Nigeria Limited, West Africa’s premier financial institution and leading financial inclusion services provider, has announced its sponsorship of the Carnival Calabar & Festival 2025, introducing an innovation set to redefine the event’s spectator experience.

In a statement issued in Lagos on December 26, 2025, the bank revealed that the highlight of its sponsorship is the construction of a 500-seater premium bleacher — the first-ever private premium seating area in the history of the Carnival Calabar.

The facility is designed to offer enhanced comfort, safety, and an elevated viewing experience for carnival lovers.

Speaking on the sponsorship, the Acting Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications at FirstBank, Olayinka Ijabiyi, said the partnership aligns with the bank’s First@Arts initiative, which supports the creative arts value chain across Nigeria.

According to him, the arts play a vital role in inspiring people, promoting social reflection, and strengthening national unity.

He noted that for over 131 years, FirstBank has consistently supported platforms that encourage self-expression and cultural exchange.

“Our investment in the Carnival Calabar & Festival demonstrates our commitment to preserving Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage through First@Arts.

“As part of our sponsorship this year, we are introducing the first-ever private 500-seater premium bleacher to further elevate the carnival experience, providing exceptional comfort and an unforgettable viewing experience for attendees,” Ijabiyi said.

Also commenting on the partnership, Chairman of the Cross River State Carnival Calabar Commission, Gabe Onah, described FirstBank’s involvement as a strong demonstration of private-sector support for culture and tourism.

He added that the collaboration would enhance the overall quality of the carnival and further strengthen its global appeal.

The Carnival Calabar & Festival 2025 is officially marketed by Okhma Global Limited, the appointed official marketer responsible for brand partnerships, promotions, and ticket sales.

The firm has worked with the Cross River State Government for over a decade, contributing significantly to the carnival’s commercial growth and international visibility.
