Gunmen Steal Brand New Black Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 in Victoria Island Midnight Heist

A brazen armed robbery incident early Saturday, November 1, 2025, has sent shockwaves through the upscale Victoria Island area of Lagos, after a black 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 was stolen at gunpoint.

The incident occurred around midnight on Akin-Olugbade Street. A gang of approximately four armed robbers accosted the driver of the black luxury SUV, registration number WTO 21 AM, while the vehicle was parked.

The robbers reportedly forced the driver out at gunpoint, firing a warning shot into the air to deter onlookers, before speeding away.

The stolen vehicle, a 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350, has been identified by its Vehicle Identification Number (VIN): 4JGFB4FB8SB274117

Eyewitnesses confirmed the operation was executed rapidly, with the robbers last seen driving the SUV towards the Ozumba Mbadiwe axis.

The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries during a brief initial resistance.

A senior police officer from the Victoria Island Division confirmed the robbery, stating that a full-scale manhunt has been immediately activated.

“The Lagos State Police Command has activated joint patrol operations involving anti-robbery, surveillance, and intelligence teams.

“All exit routes from Victoria Island have been placed under close monitoring,” the officer said.

The vehicle has also been placed on both the Lagos State and national security watchlists.

The stolen vehicle is distinctive: a black metallic 2025 model Mercedes-Benz GLE 350, featuring factory-fitted tinted windows, a brown leather interior, LED headlights, AMG alloy wheels, and a chrome front grille.

The police issued an urgent appeal to the public, especially to car dealers and auto mechanics, to be vigilant for any vehicle matching this description.

They urged anyone with information to contact the nearest police station or use the emergency hotlines 112 and 767.

The Lagos State Police Command assured the public that all efforts are underway to recover the SUV and apprehend the perpetrators.
