The family of the late Afrobeats star, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as MohBad, has reaffirmed its commitment to securing justice following his death.
In a statement issued by the family's legal team, led by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Dr Wahab Shittu, the family revealed a multipronged legal strategy to uncover the truth surrounding MohBad's sudden demise.
The legal team has, therefore, obtained the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the coroner's inquest proceedings and recommendations, which it said has been thoroughly studied.
Consequently, the family requested the Lagos State Attorney-General to prosecute those indicted in the report or grant a fiat for private prosecution.
The nurse and another individual allegedly involved in the fatal incident had been arraigned before the Magistrates’ Court in Yaba, Lagos.
Additionally, the family has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to reopen investigations into MohBad's earlier allegations of harassment and assault by Naira Marley and Sam Larry.
A fresh petition has also been submitted to the IGP, seeking an investigation into new revelations about alleged blood stains found in MohBad's residence.
The family stated that it is determined to ensure that all credible leads are thoroughly examined in the interest of justice and transparency.
The family's legal team revealed that it has instituted an appeal challenging a Lagos High Court ruling that refused to set aside the Legal Advice issued by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), which discharged Naira Marley and Sam Larry.
Regarding MohBad's son, the court varied its earlier order, permitting the DNA test to be conducted both in Nigeria and abroad.
The family revealed that it is approaching this process with sensitivity, ensuring that the process is not compromised.
The legal team also confirmed progress in the defamation suit filed by MohBad's wife, Ms Wunmi Aloba, against his father, Mr Joseph Aloba.
The family cautioned against misinformation and unfounded allegations circulating on social media, urging the public to disregard false narratives.
